Lips
I am fascinated by lips:
The way the top one meets the bottom
So gently
The curves and dip in the middle
Fitting together like pieces of a puzzle
So delicately
They just rest there
Never complaining
Lips fascinate me
The way two lovers exchange emotion
A mother presses her lips upon the forehead of a child
checking for a fever
They turn blue when it is cold out
They crack and peel when left un cared for
Lips fascinate me
They can be so elegant, so soft, so smooth and still
--- but then, lips can do bad things too
Lips are the gateway of our voices
Allowing us to spit out words and phrases
For verbal abuse
For shouting out slurs and hurting those around us
But everyone has lips
Everyone chooses to use their lips
I am fascinated by lips and lips should fascinate you too
I just hope you choose to use them wisely
